Fastest Broadband Connection on Earth!
Salam and hi to all my readers, i come across Hembusan’s blog and i read about his post (i read this post so many time before this..hehe) about Malaysia broadband connection speed which really s*ck! I don’t want to mention any ISP’s, but i guess you should know already. Well, i read all about the comments by his readers and i found something interesting to shared here. Although it’s already an old story, but i just know now so it is new la, rite? hee..
The thing that catch my attention is a comment by 1 of his readers, about an old lady who got the fastest broaband internet connection on earth which is 40Gbps!!! Yes! its Giga everyone! Giga! not mega.. wow, at that time i just thinking what can i do which that fast broadband connection. Oh, maybe i can download a big file just in seconds. Wth, it is awesome!
I quoted some part of the article about this broadband connection,
A 75 year old woman from Karlstad in central Sweden has been thrust into the IT history books – with the world’s fastest internet connection. Sigbritt Löthberg’s home has been supplied with a blistering 40 Gigabits per second connection, many thousands of times faster than the average residential link and the first time ever that a home user has experienced such a high speed. Sigbritt will now be able to enjoy 1,500 high definition HDTV channels simultaneously. Or, if there is nothing worth watching there, she will be able to download a full high definition DVD in just two seconds.

Can you imagine that you can surf the net like you change your television channel? No need to wait longer, you’ll get what you want in seconds. I wonder when my country (Malaysia la..!) ISP can provide such a highspeed broadband to home user. Till now, the fastest broadband connection in Malaysia was 4Mbps (if i’m not mistaken), but it’s still in experimental stage by TM, the one who provided the s**kest ever broadband connection, Snailmyx. The one that i subscribed at home now was 1Mbps package, which sometimes get slower than dial-up. Btw, that fastest broadband connection still in trial stage. Although it’s still in trial stage, but we already see that it can work. Anyhow i think TM should improved first their current service that they are provided, before tested/experiment on new service. Noted that i don’t means to blame them about what we had just now, but i suggested for an improvement in giving their service to their customers, they must served us equivalently as what we paid them. How come you guys want to provide a highspeed broadband such 4Mbps if you still get problem for 1Mbps connection. So from my opinion, i think TM should improved their current service first instead of experimenting on new technology. Otherwise if you think they already gave satisfaction to you, i can’t say anything. But for me, i think they need to improved first their current service. Customer’s satisfaction is the important part to be a successful company in any bussiness you’re involved, rite? Without support from your customers, who are you?

“Without support from your customers, who are you?”
When you’re gaming the market, then it doesn’t matter whether your customers are happy or not. And TM does that.
yup..the reality is like that. TM conquered all. But now, there are new competitors coming, like Time, IZZI and others. Hopefully, with their coming in this broadband industry, TM will realized that how important the customers is. TM will realized that they need to give 200% quality service to their customers. Hopefully, they’ll realized that. I’m sick with the current quality of broadband connection nowadays.
heheh… i admitted that malaysia’s internet speed quite s*ck(no!!really damn s*ck). No doubt bout that. as for my place(Russia), the internet speed is rather quite good. i enjoyed downloading n uploading a lot of thing. i can download one song(mp3) in 10-15seconds, or less.
and as far i heard from my friends that do travel a lot in Europe, they said that Germany has really damn high speed internet connection. My friend went there, then came back to Russia with tons of movie and in the end, i’m the one watching all those movies. Hehe..
heaven sungguh kalau connection laju camtue. But the thing is…I will get bored easily if it to FAST!! It may sound wierd, but I like waiting hours/day for donload to complete…the excitement… But when streaming video…youtube e.g…Yes I need fast connection. XD
I agree with you…TM need to upgrade their 1mb snailmyx before proceeding with other 2,4,8,10 whatever mb they gonna offer in the future.
How come Malaysia can get that fast speed? Even 384kbps they can’t catch up. Hu3.
@firdaus.. u and ur friends are fortunate enough to get da experience using that such high speed broadband.. huhu.. europe? no wonder, i already read tawel sensei’s post at his blog, europe really great in providing such high speed broadband and the part with more interesting is, its damn cheaper than our streamyx!
@shuun lols.. skrang sume org nk laju..hee. xkan nk ketinggalan kot. is not the excitement comes when we don’t need to wait even longer? click and click, got what you click wif just a second. isn’t really exciting? anyhow, if u feel so, i respect ur opinion then.
i read today’s newspaper and saw a new ads from TM about their new Streamyx package for home user, which is 2Mbps package. erm.. just wait and see, how the feedback from the user.
@cypherhackz i know it..haha but anyhow they need to improve. TM already launch their new package for home user. Just wait n see what’s people gonna say after this. I’m sure, it’ll be worst since we can benchmark them already from their current 1Mbps package for home user.
HmM. Bukan Streamyx je yang lembab Maxis Broadband lagi lembab. Dulu aku guna streamyx 1mbps harga 99 pastu aku nampak tawaran maxis 3.6mbps Rm98. Aku terus subscribe. Sampai Sekarang kelajuan internet lagi lembab dari kura-kura. Sekarang ni aku yang rugi.
MORAL OF THE STORY IS: DONT GET FOOLED BY COMPANY WHO SAYS THEIR PRODUCT IS BETTER. ALWAYS CHECK PEOPLE`S COMMENT ABOUT ANYTHING YOU BUY.
yeah.. i’m agreed wif that..
always check current customer’s feedback about their service before subscribing..
what i see nowadays, malaysia somehow don’t like to be left behind in this technology..
so what they do now is trying to provide all those services BUT never ever care about the quality, how to maintain the service quality, how to give satisfaction to their customers. What’s the point to have a 3G service but still the speed much much more slower than dial-up!
cant do anything on streamyx. i worked there before in their customer support dept, half of the time we dont know the reason and have to ‘white lie’ the users. they also throttling streaming video site and bittorent as of feb 08 (only youtube and metacafe is spared)
zangetsus last blog post..DSL light blinking/off (PPOE)
thanks zangetsu for the info. I noticed also when streaming video from other site, its quite slow compare to Youtube but I never think that they will throttling the streaming video site too. From what I know, they just throttling torrent site which for me quite considerable although they should not do it. I think the question should be answered by their engineer or maybe their technician that involve in all those maintainence things. Why the connection so slow and so on. Because I think the problem occurs due to their lack of maintainance of the hardware.. anyway this is just my personal point of view. But I hope they will heard our complaints and problems and take the action asap and seriously.
they have been throttling streaming videos since February this year. for bittorent on public tracker, i ve got the bitcomet that can get maximum speed, not throttled. if you ask the engineer they will most probably say its because of the phone line since dsl connection uses that. whether phone line in ur house or its the underground phone line. another cause i think its because of our own international gateway thats so slow. i ve got international friends that always complain of lag issues when connecting to our website hosted in malaysia. no point wasting money and getting hyped up over any new broadband services in malaysia (izzi, maxis, celcom) because they also using the TMnet infrastructure and/or have strict TOC regarding usage.
imrans last blog post..Streamyx broadband troubleshooting
@imran, if they used the same gateway, then we can compare them with their service satisfaction. Most of streamyx’s users doesn’t satisfied with the quality of the current service. And somehow, it become worse when the customers service also suck. I currently considering to subscribe the new wireless broadband provider, U Mobile Broadband. My friend already subscribed it last week and i already tested the speed. The download speed was great, since the maximum speed provided is 3.6Mbps, the slowest speed i got is around 700kbps and maximum speed i tested during peak hour is about 1.6Mbps, impressive? I can say, it attracted me to subscribe since the ISP provides 8 days of free trial. With monthly fee is rm78 for unlimited 3.6Mbps broadband, this is a great offer! You can consider it.
well 1 of my friend at maxis talked with one of his system engineers. what that guys said is, every wifi connection on 3.5g network, the government just allow wifi broadband ISP like maxis and others to only use 10 % of the total bandwidth. so that means, if u live in high density places, the network could get congested very easily. and for every wireless ISP, check the TOS pages because some limit the amount of bandwidth u can use every month and blocked some ports especially bittorent ports.
the only good thing streamyx is doing right now is there is not limit how many gigabyte u can download a month, unlike ISP providers in US. i myself downloaded more than 40gb every month lol. The speed is on the other issues where a lot of people complains. on my honest review of my current connection, i got 2 connection, 1 in cheras another in puchong. both without any problems. maybe im just lucky to lived in those places. the only issue of speed is when i try to access international website, sometimes it gets slow but still above 70 % of the requirement to complain. im not defending streamyx in any way, i myself complain a lot and cursing whenever access to internatinal website is slow. its just that for me, we have no choice, it depends on the country’s network backbone which TM monopolies.
imrans last blog post..RM15.2b to boost broadband service
I’m not sure about that, but i’ve heard about it before where there is limit for bandwidth usage per month. Anyway, if they said they limit the bandwidth, then what’s does it means for UNLIMITED? If the usage still limited by the bandwidth then, what’s the point to have UNLIMITED? Or they just want to attract more subscribers by using this kind of tactic? I know there not so many of broadband users will read the TOS because the think it just nothing. But something about this, I mean the bandwidth limit shouldn’t be included in TOS but it should be clearly stated that, this package and that package have this much of limited bandwidth. That’s what I think la.. As a consumer we need to know as detail as possible about what we are going to subscribe.. And something about bandwidth limit should be clearly stated.
Malaysian broadband services are like Malaysian taxis… unreliable and slow, about 8 years out of date. They are making us a laughing stock in the region.
Telecom and Transport ministers urgently need to get stuck in and force improvement to these services.
Footnote: Thailand has taxis that are cheap to use, plentiful, courteous and honest. The new fleets are equipped with Toyota Altis. Note the taxi meter flagfall is RM3.50 equivalent. However their broadband also sucks!

They appear to market their services under name of Sentralfon
http://www.sentralfon.com.my/
Charges are RM77, RM88 and RM99/month for various (FTTH) fibre optic to the home services and you will need to pay for a media converter. They also have RM66/month for ETTH service (ethernet to the home) which claims 2Mbps traffic speed and unlimited usage.
@Jem, agree with you. I don’t know how Malaysia could achieve what so-called Wawasan 2020 if this is the way they treat the technology.
Anyway, I know the company you mentioned above. Their offer is quite great but unfortunately, they are not in my coverage. Hope they will widen their coverage soon. Thanks for sharing the information here, Jem.
Eh wha 1 mb 512kb also cannot gau dim . other country 512 kb package can download with 400kb ler Telekol Malaysia binti sdn Bhd
Our PM announced recently on Science and Technology conference that they will upgrade the internet connection in Malaysia to be utilising Fibre Optics, with connection speed from 10Mbps to 1Gbps. Starting of the project will be between 2011 to 2020. I doubt we can see that in the near future. Even if come out with such connnection, I bet we will be paying to our neck too……… My friend from Singapore told me from next year onwards they will be using Fibre Optics connection in household(fully operational). Now the Singapore Government already started working on the infrastructure for the coming conversion. The average speed in Singapore now is 10Mbps. But from next year onwards, they will be seeing 1Gbps. Haiz…… When will my Malaysia be really boleh?
note: Recently just POTONG, but it isn’t really that great. Sigh.
@Jonathan Huang, we can’t compared between wireless and wired connection in term of stability, sure the wired connection will win.
The only reason why this happen in Malaysia because of monopolization of internet service provider by TM, unlike in Singapore which has different ISP with their own cable connection etc. But in Malaysia, as far as I know, other ISPs like Celcom Broadband, Maxis Broadband etc use connection from TM. Means, the facility they use is from TM. They are not using their own facility, that’s why Celcom BB, Maxis BB and others wireless broadband ISPs have implemented bandwidth limit to all their wireless broadband plans unlike Streamyx who own the facility.
Maybe these situations are not the same in Singapore, that’s why they can offer better broadband service. Another factor is because of the area. Malaysia is large compared to Singapore, so the ISPs there can focus more on improving their broadband better because of small coverage are compared to Malaysia.
But, I really hope Malaysia broadband can be improved better and more stable. It is a shame to know that most investors run from Malaysia due to slow internet connection. Btw, it is a hope too to see this HSBB – High Speed Broadband project achieve its target. I’ve heard some rumors said, the 10Mbps package for home user will cost you up to RM500/monthly. Who are going to pay that much? I hope these rumors are wrong. Let’s wait and see.
I read about TM’s new broadband service. I was hoping to get the 5mbps until I read about the cap on downloads. TM should offer unlimited downloads for that price. Will the service be better than Streamyx ?
40GBPS laju sangat..
Kat korea 1gig ok ar…
@Gerald Thomas, I heard TM will not implement this bandwidth cap for NOW for all Unifi packages. But, TM will monitor the users usage from time to time. I don’t know if the service is better than Streamyx. But, if we see from the past, Streamyx itself takes time to get very stable with the connection. From this, I can expect, Unifi too will take time to get stable. If stability is your concern, I’ll consider take Streamyx over Unifi for now. I don’t need 5Mbps, I need stable connection and 1Mbps Streamyx is more than enough.
@William, haha..itu test je bro..
1 orang je pakai dalam dunia..memang laju la..
The fastest internet in Malaysia is Time Fibre Internet!!! It is 50 Mb/s. You can look at http://www.time.com.my/.
