Movie Review : The Forbidden Kingdom

Hello, I’m quite ‘free’ this week because my Japanese class start at 8pm every Monday till Wednesday. Huh, guess what, it’s damn boring because I don’t know what to do. It becomes more bored because most of my friends didn’t take special semester (or maybe some peoples called it short semester or what so ever). So, most of my time I spent with myself..LOLS
Wa.. don’t know where to go and what to do. So, to fill up my time, I decided to watch The Forbidden Kingdom, another kungfu movie acted by Jackie Chan together with another big name in this kungfu movie arena, who else? Yup, Jet Li. And again, I go alone.
And for the first time, I watched it at new GSC cinema, GSC Alamanda Putrajaya.
I noticed that some of Nuffnangers got special screening from Nuffnang for this movie and most of them already wrote their own opinions, feedbacks and reviews about this movie. So, this is my review about this movie. So, before that, here some synopsis about this movie,
An American teenager obsessed with martial arts cinema, is magically transported to ancient China where he meets three Chinese heroes who help him on his quest to free the Monkey King.

Wa… very short synopsis, I wonder what the story behind this synopsis. Plus, I already watched their trailer and preview of this movie, so I’m little bit curious what this movie is all about. It looks very interesting to watch.
Before I’m going through my review, lets have some trailer and preview about this movie for those who didn’t watch it yet. *Maybe it can attract your curiosity to watch this movie* ![]()
What do you think? Haha.. interesting movie right? Ok.. the trailer may looks interesting, but how about the story of this movie? Is it interesting as the trailer? So here is my review and opinion about this movie.
If you watch the trailer, you can guess what the language that will be used in this movie. Yes, absolutely English. In this movie you’ll see Jackie Chan and Jet Li will be speaking mostly in English. It’s little bit weird for me as this movie was considered as a Chinese movie because of the kungfu things. I think it will be much better if this movie delivered in Chinese language, more suitable. Anyway, the story is all about Jason Tripitikas (acted by Michael Angarano) , a kungfu obsessed modern American teen who was a selected person to return the golden stuff to Monkey King, it is Monkey King’s weapon. He was then teleported or transported in to another world which I’m not sure where it is, maybe ancient China. Sound little bit fantasy right? So, you need to accept this movie as it is, be open-minded. After he was teleported, the journey started. As he started to travel in the world which he also doesn’t know where, he met Lu Yan (acted by Jackie Chan) then, Golden Sparrow (acted by Liu Yi Fei) and lastly he met The Monk (acted by Jet Li). Then, they were together to complete the task, to return back the stuff. But it is not easy to complete the task as they were chased by the Bride with White Hair (acted by Li Bing Bing) and the Warlord (acted by Collin Chou) who also want the golden stuff. So this is the story of the movie, a journey to return the stuff to the Monkey King.
The interesting part in this movie is the part when Lu Yan (Jackie Chan) and The Monk (Jet Li) fighting which each other. It’s seldom to see these two big names in kungfu movie arena fighting which each other in a movie. So, it’s worth to watch this movie. It has a great storyline and for me, its not too bad movie except for the speaking part, I think it should be nice if it is in Chinese. Anyway, it is an entertaining and fun movie which has the perfect balance in action, comedy and drama. If you’re fans of Jackie Chan or Jet Li, you must watch this movie. It’ll not disappoint you. Apart of that, I give this movie 4 out of 5 stars.
Hey, go watch it and you’ll know what I mean. It is an interesting movie to watch!

erm.. Yup, that going-back-time for me was little bit fantasy, from a modern world to an ancient world of China. But it is not a big deal, overall the story in this movie was interesting and worth to watch it.
4 out of 5 eh? So it is really an interesting movie even though the language is not in chinese.
