Proton Exora is The New Proton MPV’s Name

Salam and hello all. I think most of you already know about this new Proton MPV which will be launched this April 2009. I don’t really know what’s the point Proton told the media about the name of this new MPV earlier than the launch date, for promotion purposes probably? Or just a teaser? Whatever it is, a bit sad to hear that this new Proton MPV which now can be called Proton Exora will only be powered by 1.6 engine. Hello?! Come on Proton, your Proton Waja is already using 1.6 engine and for MPV also want to use the same engine? What do you expect?

By announcing this news yesterday, it means all the rumors that said this new Proton Exora will be using 1.8 engine are totally wrong and the price which expected around RM80k maybe will be less. So, what do you think? For me 1.6 engine is not so suitable for such a MPV that will carry at least 8 peoples inside it. I don’t know how to explain technically but the rough idea in my mind, a MPV at least should use 1.8 engine instead of 1.6 engine.

I don’t want to comment much, but from what others has commented in this entry, I can say that many people will be disappointed after Proton has announced some details of this Proton Exora.

p/s: I’ve changed my mind to recommend this MPV to my dad. :(
p/p/s: Who wins the contest “Namakan Proton MPV” that has been organized by Proton last time? Haha.

    Avanza masa first time release ramai org complain sbb underpower, cuz 1st edition gune engine 1.3 DVVT Toyota.. the result were, fuel consumption macam lorry, pickup time overtaking mmg..sigh~
    that’s whY skrg diorg buat 1.5 DVVT..tapi tu engine toyota..

    takleh bayang engine waja/persona letak kt Exora…o.O’
    engineer – engineer proton (kalau aderla) tolong explain sikit..

    Power Engine campro 1.6 CPS sebenarnya macam 1.8 zaman dulu. Jadi tak ada masalah guna 1.6 CPS untuk bawa 7 orang. Dulu saya pernah sewa Vauhall Zafira 1.6 yang jauh kurang kuasanya dari Camrpo CPS, tak ada masalah nak bawa ramai penumpang. Jangan risau, power Campro CPS 1.6, tak jauh bezanya dengan power Inova 1.8 dan Inova lebih berat lagi.

    Teknologi CPS ni adalah hasil R & D Proton dengan Lotus. Teknologi ni adalah hampir sama dengan teknologi yang ada pada kereta Porche yang dibekalkan oleh Lotus untuk Porche. Jom beli Proton MPV…

    Saya tidak pernah bawa persona. Tapi pernah bawa Gen2 1.6 auto keluaran 2006 memang mengecewakan. Apehal tekan minyak mcm takmau pegi je ni!

    Lagi sedap bawa iswara buruk aku ni 1.3 a/b manual. Ramai yang komplen proton tak bagus tapi kereta aku ok je. tak pernah tukar/ problem power window 11 tahun guna.

    cuma bonet belakang je tiris bila hujan! ini Trademark proton kot.

    Isteri saya ada Proton Gen 2 1.3 (A). Dia berulang tiap-hiap hari naik dan turun bukit tangga ke Jelebu sejak 2005. Tak ada masalah pun, guna gear 3 memang best, boleh pecut laju. Saya pernah bawa kawan, dan dia ingat 1.6. Saya pernah naik bukit Mantin dengan gear 3, boleh potong X trail, terkejut dia, dia nak potong balik tak dapat… bau asap saya ajelah. Sebenarnya cara kita bawa kereta akan mempengaruhi kereta kita, sebab dia ada komputer dan fly by wire. Kalau kita pecut dengan laju maka dia akan bertindak begitu walaupun 1.3. Walau bagaimanapun perlu selalu bawa kereta dengan sopan dan guna signal selalu.

    ada komputer dan fly by wire.

    ZOOL…BUKAN FLY BY WIRE….DRIVE BY WIRE…maknaya dah x pakai kebel minyak mcm proton dulu.dulu…bila ko tekan je padel minyak,padel sensor keta ko terus bagi signal ke ECU dan ECU terus bagi Signal kat TCU….bagi tahu cari kita drive keta 2…that y kadang kadang kita akan rasa dia lembab ckit…sbb ECU mesti memahami Karaktor driver sebulum semuanya berjalan lancar…tima kasih ….salammm….

    Tp…klau mcm zool drive,dh tentu ECU & TCU dah paham karaktor zool…so xde la rasa lembab engine CAMPRO…DRIVE BY WIRE…belum ramai company keta pakai….lately keta honda kat malaysia baru pakai….so rasa2nya(KLAU X SILAP LA) proton dulu kot yang pakai DRIVE BY WIRE kat malaysia ni….

    @adik, wa..terima kasih berkongsi info ni. baru tahu neh. kiranya, sistem yang proton guna ni, canggih jugak la ye. Btw, kalau pakai sistem camni, bila driver tukar, ECU & TCU kena “faham” karaktor pemanduan pemandu baru tu. X susah ke camni? Ke lebih senang?

    Oops sorry, betul, drive by wire. Kalau fly by wire guna kat kapal terbang. Ya itu sebabnya orang yang bawa slow akan terkejut bila bawa kereta saya dan sebaliknya. selepas itu akan ikut pembawa kereta baru. Lagi satu kereta proton auto ada gear 1,2, 3 dan D manakala kereta jenama lain masih 1,2 dan D.
