Fake Miniature/Tilt-Shift Lens Effect: First Experimental Attempt
Salam and hello everyone. Since I have not posted any photo related entry after my last photo entries about Formula 1 Grand Prix last time, hence for this time I want to share with you my first experimental attempt on fake miniature as known as tilt-shift lens effect. The different between fake or original tilt-shift lens effect is just the original tilt-shift lens effect picture is taking using tilt-shift lens which I think, quite costly and the fake one is otherwise. In addition, I don’t have any DSLR yet, so of course I never think to get one of those lens. Anyway, miniature effect or tilt-shift lens effect also can be produced by applying some editing on suitable photos using any photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop or Photoscape and this is what we call fake miniature or tilt-shift lens effect. Since this is my experimental attempt, I didn’t use Adobe Photoshop for editing process, all editing for these fake miniature or tilt-shift lens effect have done using Photoscape and the result quite impress me. What do you think?
By the way, what’s actually miniature/tilt-shift lens effect? I quote here some definition from Wikipedia.
Tilt-shift miniature faking is a process in which a photograph of a life-size location or object is manipulated so that it looks like a photograph of a miniature scale model.

Actually, in Photoscape there are a lot of effects and photos filters that you can apply to your pictures to produce fake miniature effect. You may explore a bit Photoscape and you may find how great this free editing software. So, here there are, my first experimental attempt on fake miniature or tilt-shift lens effect. Enjoy the pictures then.

So, what do you think? Maybe some people don’t like the concept of miniature, but I can’t help it. Anyway, I hope to hear some of your words about it and I really appreciate it. This is my first attempt though and maybe there are lacks somewhere in the picture or maybe some of the picture is not suitable for miniature, probably? So, speak out what’s in your mind, I would like to hear it. Hehe. Please use the comment box below to comment. Thanks.
p/s: Lately, I don’t know why I lack of ideas what to write. I tried to find some inspiration but find nothing. Any suggestion? ![]()

etomyams last blog post..MP3 SYJ Sofea – Hujan
Miniature is great if you take the photos from the above.
in my honest opinion, pic #1 and #7 are not suitable to be edited with miniature effect but the rest look great on the first attempt. Maybe what’s said by CypherHackz is kinda true. It needs certain angle to ‘fool’ human eyes and make it looks like a miniature.
Anyway, kudos to u for sharing this technique. Could be better if u could also provide the tutorial using the Photoscape to create this effect =)
Thanks
@Akmal Hisyam, thanks.
@etomyam, hoho..thanks anyway. After you’ve tried, I want to see the outcomes. Let me know ok.
@CypherHackz, thanks cypher for the tip. 45 degree of angle is another tip to take the pictures for miniature. I read somewhere and I’ll try to apply it into my next attempt. Since all pictures here are just my old pictures which no intention of making it as miniature, maybe that’s why some of the pictures are not suitable for miniature photos. By the way, thanks for the tip.
@Juanlova, haha! Thanks buddy for the comment. I admit some of the pictures are not suitable for miniature as what you’ve mentioned. That’s why I’m asking for opinion. Hehehe..
Ha? Tutorial? I don’t think I need to write a tutorial to make miniature using Photoscape, it is already there. Click and done!
aku suka..sebab rasa macam patung ja..bleh ejas suka2..heehe….
@adib, thanks adib. Ni percubaan pertama, mungkin ada kelemahan dari segi komposisi gambar.
perghhhh cun giler ah. digicam x leh buat ni kan. hehe
KNizams last blog post..Yeay! Google Doodle for Today – Mary Cassatt !
@Knizam, boleh je bro. Janji gambar tu diambil dari angle (dari atas ataupun 45 degree) yang sesuai lepas tu buat editing dalam Photoscape. Siap! hehe.. kalau nak proper kena beli lens die, mahal gabak..hehe
Kudos from one braniac to another.
