Proton EMAS: New Proton Concept Car at Geneva International Motor Show with Pictures
Salam and hello to all. If you still don’t know Malaysia’s national car manufacture, Proton is currently developing their own concept car or maybe will go into production soon, here I tell you. The name of new Proton’s concept car is EMAS which stand for “Eco Mobility Advance Solution” and for the first time, it was shown at Geneva International Motor Show. Proton EMAS, it is a great name in my opinion.
This Proton EMAS concept car is the result of Proton collaboration with Lotus and Italdesign-Giugiaro, and as you can see from several pictures that I have shared below, only one word pop up in my mind “WOW!”. Something totally different from what Proton have produced before. I know some of you may say this is the result of foreign company, but well, knowing that this car is the result of collaboration of engineers from Proton and Lotus and designer from Italdesign-Giugiaro, I think as Malaysian, we should proud of this result. Well, I don’t know you, but me, I’m proud of it.
Well, just enjoy the pictures and leave some of your comments, words, opinions or maybe constructive critics about this new Proton EMAS concept car. All the pictures below are credited to Paultan.org and respected photographers who photograph these pictures.

I’m just hoping Proton will do mass production for this car, even I know it is still “concept” which is most probably won’t be produced. However, if Proton decided to mass produce it, I would be proud to drive it.
Price? Wait and see or do you have any expected price in your mind? Do mind to share?

This is really something different from Proton and it could be a starting point to jumpstart Proton to go global and compete with other international car producers. Hopefully the engineering portion lives up to its innovative design .That would be a complete package and I’m sure this car would be a seller not just locally but globally too! Kudos for choosing the right partner with Italdesign-Giugiaro.
You took the photo yourself? Saw the exact same pict all over the place. Still put his blog name in photo… Swt
As mentioned in one of the news, the car will in mass production by year 2012. Good work Proton …
good start but trouble is proton does not have a history of producing progressive cars in spite of their long albeit govt-funded history.
so visitors at geneva would go to proton.com and see the shitty cars they’ve been dishing out to malaysians. they’d wonder where proton acquired the technology to produce a model like emas. it’d be like skoda’s first foray into the global market. without VW, they would never be where they are now.
what proton needs to do from hereon is show a real commitment to producing better cars, incorporating the fruits of their r&d into new models, reacting positively to market research and feedback, instead of being defensive, and settling for cosmetic changes just to make money. they should also phase out the models that are bogging them down and giving them an excuse to remain cocooned…
still, the emas seems to indicate they are getting serious about wanting to be a player, too.
the design is very innovative.. but im sure it will not be in the market.. there are even other few concept cars in Proton’s research center..

@Rodger.MY, who copy who doesn’t matter, the design is still not the same. But Tamiya? Which one?
@1tomyam, harap2 macam tu la, naik sikit imej proton.
@Shar, yep.I hope this will be a good start for Proton to bring up their image globally. Hopefully, the design awesomeness is not limited to this concept car only, but all upcoming new models from Proton.
@Reader, thank you for leaving your comment. Anyway, do you read my entry completely? I did mentioned the pictures are credited to Paultan.org (as the source where I got all these pictures) and photographers who photograph these pictures which I don’t know who. If you know, let me know, so I can credit them properly. One more thing, putting watermark on photos hosted on my blog hosting is my right. Some people simply hotlinking photos from this blog and this will cost me in term of bandwidth usage. Please understand that and therefore, I didn’t claim the photos are belong to me and also didn’t put on the picture “Copyright”, but “Hosted @” instead. Get my point?
@azman, really? mind to share the source?
@sr2, I totally agree with your comment. Proton really need to improve in term of quality and design for their upcoming new car models, otherwise people just look Proton EMAS as experimental car by Proton.
@fatul, yep. Its innovative because it is a product from outside. I mean, it is not purely Malaysian made. However, it is still a good effort for Proton to get into this kind of exposure. Regarding other Proton’s concept car, sure I’ve seen a lot of it, but as you said, its end up nowhere. Just a concept and prototype. But, hopefully this one will go into the market.

@papabear, dengar cerita tahun 2012.
@xmizanx, what you mean is it?
@kertaz, I don’t know what’s expected price. But, judge from its design and interior, it looks like the price is high. But, just wait and see.
@Chee Lau, this is different from Naza. Proton has collaborated with Italdesign-Giugiaro to exclusively design this car. It is not a kind of re-badging things like what Naza and Perodua did. Or do you think or have see somewhere any other car brand that have the same design like Proton EMAS?
@Jayce, of course not now..haha
superb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome.I like all the cars.It looks much cute and very attractive.Today’s automotive technology is really fascinating. I have seen many car design concepts that came to life. Many designers have a great imagination when creating or making new cars.
I think since Waja, proton has produce good cars and some good looking too, European handling, Japanese reliabilty and Malaysian value. Better looking than dugong or katak or ikan. I don’t think SEAT under VW is doing well.
this car if sell in malaysia i wish dont too expansive…this is small car if too expansive no much people can afford to buy…
