Maxis Introduces New Mobile Internet Data Plan for 100MB/month at RM18
Salam and hello everyone. After a long wait, finally Maxis is going to introduce new mobile internet data plan for both its postpaid and prepaid customers, but you have to wait until this 16 August to get register with this new data plan. Pretty affordable in my opinion since the current cheapest mobile internet data plan is at RM58/month for 500MB of monthly bandwidth. Well, I think most of us is not going to use it up to this 500MB of bandwidth, hence 100MB per month looks quiet reasonable offer. Plus, its only cost you RM18/month!

Anyway, I hope this will solve my problem with my phone right now. During my first month of using it, I have used 50MB of total data transfer and the charge was about RM3xx! It may sound crazy, but that it is. The reason behind this is I’m not subscribed to any data plan.
Okay, if you want to subscribe to this data plan, wait until this 16 August 2010. I’ll consider too to subscribe to this data plan. I hope my dad don’t mind. *Because he is the one who pay my bill, poor me
*
p/s: I heard DiGi also is going to introduce the same type of data plan, anyone with any info?

100MB per month? Seriously? I can use up it within a day by just watching YouTube videos.
For mobile phone usage, 500MB is minimum requirement. See my usage with HTC HD2 ~ http://www.jayceooi.com/2010/07/28/should-i-get-samsung-galaxy-s-from-maxis-malaysia/

@Jayce, hehe..maybe I’m not really heavily use it for Youtube streaming and such. Just for facebook, twitter and emails. So, I think 100MB/month is enough for me. Plus, for the first month, I’ve used 50MB of total data transfer and that was because I’ve used Google Map a lot during that time. I don’t know about HTC HD2 data transfer usage, but I do know that HTC Desire use a lot of data transfer, since it is always connected to internet device. My cousin used HTC Desire with 500MB/month data plan and I can see it is worth to subscribe. But anyhow, I think DiGi come out with more affordable price for it’s DiGi Smart Plan. Don’t you think so?
@Joe, haha..kalau guna phone tu untuk streaming etc memang kejap je la abes 100MB tu..hoho..
100MB/month? Sempat ckup ke sebulan? huhu kalau budak2 sekolah yg main, boleh la kot

mahal.. serius mahal. tak berbaloi
There is no way to track how much data has been used. To my surprise, after 1 day usage on and off Internet browsing, I have been charged RM100. Probably RM18 for the 100 MB, and the rest is based on pay per use. I think this is not fair to the consumer. Maxis must do something, or if anyone can suggest a way to monitor the data usage. I am using Sony Ericsson Hazel.
I think they cannot continue squeezing us to their advatage.
Maxis suck.. It has been 2 months the data usage stats is unavailable. What worry me so much is because.. sudah 2 kali i reported that my data usage not even reached the max, but they directed me to the maxis portal which said that i’ve reached my max and my speed will be reduced. So kena topap la if nak normal speed balik. And took them nearly 2 weeks to refund the gig back. Alasan yang sama, technical error. Since we can checked our data usage, i keep update myself @ the page. If i tak check camno la ek????
But now how to check as it isnt available since end of Nov????

@Maya, tak check? maksudnya? Actually, if you’re using smartphone, you can monitor your data usage.
Please be very careful when you activate the RM18/month 100MB plan. This plan have automatic renewal. Please DO NOT de-acitivate it before it reach 1 month. If you de-activate it after only few days maxis will charge you pro rate and you might end up paying 10 times more than your normal monthly bill.
@emkay, thank you for your info.
@emkay, It won’t switch to normal mode upon de-activation of the auto-renewal. In your case, it switched because you have exhausted the 100MB cap. It’s because Maxis does not allow you to monitor your data usage upon de-activation of auto-renewal that you did not realise you have exceeded your 100MB limit.
I am able to de-activate my auto-renewal and still enjoy usage, but it’s a risk, not knowing when the limit will be reached, and it’s without warning.
Ive checked *100# n therez no 100mb per month rm18 but only 2weeks 100mb for rm18 n 500mb per month rm68.
i really really want 100mb per month rm18. Plez help
Don’t use this plan, it will over charge u. I’ve been charged at least extra 150, I was so surprise to see my unbilled amount 250+, while I didn’t even call much or surf much, after I calculated, base on rm0.10 per 10kb, means exceed 10mb only already extra rm100, unknowingly, u may exceed anytime!
