Salam and hello everyone. I have not been actively posting new update/entry recently due to time constraint, plus busy as a final year student. Even I have tried to manage my time as effective as possible, but still, I was unable to spend some time for this blog. I hope you understand. I probably will not able to update this blog for couple of weeks from now since in the next 2 weeks, I’ll have my final exam already. Hence, need time for preparation.

Anyhow, even I’m a kind of busy person now, tomorrow will be the last day for me to enjoy a bit before I have to struggle on my nuclear engineering exam this Monday, creative thinking’s project presentation this upcoming Wednesday and final year project 1 presentation which is scheduled on 15th of October 2010. Huh, still have a lot of things to do. Next after next week, I will have my study week for final exam. I have done some preparation for certain subject, maybe this will help me to reduce my stress during this study week period. Hopefully everything will be as planned.

Today I’ll be at Sepang International Circuit for MotoGP 2010 and it will be the last day for me to enjoy a bit before struggling for the next 4 weeks.

The picture above is taken by me during the practice day last Friday. I’ll be at K1 grandstand on race day, if you can find me, say hi. Hahaha.

Salam and hello everyone. Since I have not posted any photo related entry after my last photo entries about Formula 1 Grand Prix last time, hence for this time I want to share with you my first experimental attempt on fake miniature as known as tilt-shift lens effect. The different between fake or original tilt-shift lens effect is just the original tilt-shift lens effect picture is taking using tilt-shift lens which I think, quite costly and the fake one is otherwise. In addition, I don’t have any DSLR yet, so of course I never think to get one of those lens. Anyway, miniature effect or tilt-shift lens effect also can be produced by applying some editing on suitable photos using any photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop or Photoscape and this is what we call fake miniature or tilt-shift lens effect. Since this is my experimental attempt, I didn’t use Adobe Photoshop for editing process, all editing for these fake miniature or tilt-shift lens effect have done using Photoscape and the result quite impress me. What do you think?

By the way, what’s actually miniature/tilt-shift lens effect? I quote here some definition from Wikipedia.

Tilt-shift miniature faking is a process in which a photograph of a life-size location or object is manipulated so that it looks like a photograph of a miniature scale model.

Actually, in Photoscape there are a lot of effects and photos filters that you can apply to your pictures to produce fake miniature effect. You may explore a bit Photoscape and you may find how great this free editing software. So, here there are, my first experimental attempt on fake miniature or tilt-shift lens effect. Some more panning shots. These are the best of panning shots that I got during this event. Quite satisfied after tried hundreds of time. Although it were not as great as my friend’s panning shots which is taken with DSLR camera, but these result give me satisfaction after I nearly want to give up trying on panning shot. Haha.

The race has stopped due to the rain and safety issue but some people still maintain at their position. Haha, during this time, I can’t take anymore photos of the cars since my camera focus can’t even focus on the Formula 1 cars and I actually little bit doubt to use high ISO setting on my camera. Ya, you know, high ISO more noise. Some photographer already stop taking photos including me, just enjoying some foreigner doing some funny things to entertain people due to the race has stopped. Sorry, no pictures of them.

But, as a photographer, we have to always be prepared in any kind of situation. Haha, I saw this fella still have passion to take photos even it was raining but, I think it was a good idea to cover up your camera like that. Looks cool, huh?

Salam and hello all. As I have promised before in my previous entry, I’ll share some of pictures that I have taken during Petronas Malaysian Formula 1 Grand Prix 2009 that was held at Sepang International Circuit last weekend. As I said in my previous entry, I went there with one of my housemate and another two friends of my housemate but we had separated during the traffic congestion on the way to SIC. So, me and my friend is one group and another two is one group. However, all of us have bought same section of ticket which is at Hillstand C2 but due to so many people there, we can’t find each other.

Stop till there, even though we only had to pay for a very low price of Formula 1 ticket but for parking, we didn’t get any discount. Hohoho, without any exception, we have to pay another RM50 for the parking which for me, I could say, it was not a proper parking and it wasn’t worth to pay RM50 for this kind of parking. Quite ridiculous price for me. Last time, when we went to SIC for Moto GP, we only have to pay RM5 for the parking but for Formula 1, it was 10 times higher! But, whatever it is, we have to pay for it finally since, if we didn’t pay, we have to park outside SIC and have to walk more than 1km to SIC. Who wants to do this under the hot sun?! What makes this ticket quite not worth for us is because the parking we have paid is valid for 2 days, which are qualifying and race day. But, we only come during the race day and do you think we should get half price of the parking fee? RM25 instead of RM50? LOL..

I think I have gone to far from the purpose of this entry. Ok, I won’t talk much, here we go. These are the pictures that I have taken during the event. Here we are, Hillstand C2 Sepang International Circuit! Last time, when we were here for Moto GP, we were at Main Grandstand but for this Formula 1, we think we need to change the spot. Hehehe.

We have arrived there a little bit early, hence to kill the time, I have taken some candid shots of the fans and those who came to watch this race. Enjoy!

It was very hot at SIC, make sure you drink a lot of water to avoid you from dehydration. But, one bottle of drinking water cost you RM2 and you’re not allowed to bring any outside foods and drinks but allowed to buy the foods and drinks that were sold inside the SIC. What kind of rule is this? Lol..

Ok, the race has started with some warm-up session for all the racers. Here are some typical shots of Formula 1 cars from me. More to come in part 2.

First attempt on panning shot! Not bad, huh?! Considering I’m using prosumer camera which lack of AF (Auto Focus) setting to take this kind of shot, I think this was a nice result. To take this kind of shot, you need to set your camera AF into AF-C, means continuous auto focus that will lock the focus on the car and continuously follow it. Hence, it would be much more easier to get panning shot if your camera have this setting. But, my camera is otherwise. Huhu. Another thing is you need to put your camera into Shutter Priority mode and luckily, my camera have it.

The only solution for me to take this kind of shot using my prosumer camera is to keep following the Formula 1 cars, so my camera focus will follow the cars too. But, it was really hard to do due to the speed of the cars. After hundreds of shots, only several shots have come out with good result. Moral of the story, panning shot needs more practice and off course, more advance gear.

Salam and hello all. I know this is quite a late entry but anyway, I want to write a little bit about it because I went to this event, I mean ya, I went to Sepang International Circuit on 5 April 2009 to watch this Petronas Malaysian Formula 1 Grand Prix. Even though the ticket that I have bought is valid for two days which are qualifying and race day, but since one of my housemate who also the one who should accompany me to this event had his last exam paper on Saturday, so I decided to go on Sunday.

My housemate and I have bought the ticket for the Hillstand C2 at student rate. Hoho, the best thing to be a student is you’ll get a lower price of ticket up to 75% off! Isn’t it great? Haha.

Without further ado, for those who yet know about the result, I’ll tell about it now. I’m expecting some of you might not care about it, but whatever it is, here is the result.

If you watch the race last Sunday on television or you watch it lives at SIC, I guess you should know already what actually happened. I know the result was quite controversial since the race was completed only with 33 laps, but I think the decision that has been taken was the best since the rain was quite heavy on that day plus the race has started late, about 5pm and the race has stopped due to safety issue at 6pm and it was impossible for the race to be continued after the rain has stopped about 6.45pm. During that time, it was already dark at SIC. Moreover, SIC is not ready for night race like in Singapore.

One of my friends said that, I should claim back half of my money that I have paid for the ticket since the race was not completed completely, but I don’t think it is a big deal since it was an interesting race and I enjoy it. If you are the one who paid for the ticket, do you really think that you should claim back your money? Haha. Give me your opinion then.

Remember I told you last time in my previous entry that in the evening, I tried to shot this hot air balloon from another spot? But, unfortunately the hot air balloon didn’t come towards us. We had planned to get a few shots when the balloon cross the Seri Saujana Bridge, but unluckily the balloon didn’t come towards the bridge. Haiyah.. Anyway, I managed to get some few shots taken from Seri Saujana Bridge.

Whatever it is, there are still some balloon that are suitable for children under 12. Hahaha, I mean these kind of balloon. Haha.

As I have promised before in my previous entry, I’ll share some pictures and photos that I have taken from the first Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta that was held on 19-22 March 2009. So, I don’t want to elaborate more, here are the pictures and photos that I think are the best from hundreds of pictures that I have taken on 21 March 2009. Please be patient while waiting the pictures to be loaded completely, I know even if you use broadband connection, you still have to wait. That’s what Malaysia’s broadband is. So, please wait ya!

I’ve divided the pictures into 2 parts and this is the part 1 from 2 parts. In this part, I’ll share the pictures of the hot air balloon, which is the main subject in this event. So, enjoy the pictures below and proceed your reading. All these pictures have been taken in the morning around 8 am till 9 am on 21 March 2009. So, you’ll notice the sky in my pictures was not as blue as it should be and the cloud was not really attractive enough. Well, it was a morning sky. Anyway, enjoy the pictures!

Straight to the point, this entry is dedicated to an event that will ends today (22 March 2009), Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon 2009. Some of you might already know about this event and for your information, this is the first time for this event been held in Malaysia. Anyway, those who are looking for photos or pictures for Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2009 from this blog, I hope you can wait for my next entry. I’ll post more photos from this event soon. So, stay tuned ya!

I went to this event yesterday, early in the morning. Not so early actually, it was about 7.30 am when I went out from my house with my housemate. Actually we had planned to get there as early as 7.30 am, but because we have overslept, we reached there about 8.00 am, with hope that we still can get the ticket to ride on the hot air balloon. But it was disappointed when we reached there, it was totally sold out and tickets for today (22 March 2009) are only for charity. We have heard that, 70 limited tickets for yesterday were sold out in 10 minutes! Which sound impossible for us to get the ticket because the ticket counter started selling the ticket at 7.00 am, which at that time we were still in dream mode.

Anyway, we managed to get few shots from the event and we were quite satisfied with the shots that we got yesterday. In the evening, we tried to get another few shots from another spot but little disappointed because the hot air balloon were not coming toward the spot we expect the hot air balloon to come! Wasted about 2 hours waiting the hot air balloon to come, we changed our spot one more time and get some few random shots around Putrajaya.

Since my final exam week start this Monday, so I’ve to concentrate on it first. Hope you don’t mind. Huh, by posted this post doesn’t mean that I already have internet connection at home, actually, I at my cousin’s house at Ara Damansara, Subang and used Maxis Broadband connection to write and post this entry. I yet received any calls from TM for Streamyx matters since last week and have no idea when the connection will be available. Haih, TM please do it fast!

Before I start, some of you might wondering what is HDR means? Here I quoted some part of text from Wikipedia, for details explanation you can proceed here.

In image processing, computer graphics, and photography, high dynamic range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allows a greater dynamic range of luminances between light and dark areas of a scene than normal digital imaging techniques. The intention of HDRI is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to shadows.

So, in this entry I want to share some photoshop edited pictures of Palace of Justice (Istana Kehakiman), Putrajaya, Malaysia. Actually, it were not totally photoshop edited, but I also used another important software to produce these HDR photos of Palace of Justice, which is Photomatix Pro 3.1. These HDR photos were generated from single RAW shot exposure then, converted into 3 multiple exposures using Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended and finally merged into HDR photo using Photomatix Pro 3.1. The final stage which is tone mapping and some basic editing was done using Photoshop CS3. So, enjoy the photos and do leave your comments for me to improve my skills. Oh, forget to tell you guys, these HDR photos are my first attempt on HDR imaging hence do give some tips for me to improve it. I’m still learning.

All these pictures have been taken in RAW mode using Olympus SP550uz. So, maybe the pictures are not quite sharp and I admit it. Another thing is, if you noticed, there’s ‘spoil’ in all the pictures. This happened because I didn’t aware of dust in front of the lens that caused the sun flare reflection. I know I need to be more aware of it in the future. So, leave your comments about what I shared here and hopefully I can improve it more later.
